From now on, these will also have a new positive attribute. The entire portfolio of disposable lenses on sale in Germany, Austria and Switzerland is now plastic neutral. That makes it easy for contact lens wearers to act sustainably when buying contact lenses from now on.
As part of this action, and efforts to achieve greater sustainability, CooperVision is now cooperating with Plastic Bank®. The socially responsible company aims to stop plastic waste in the world’s oceans by setting up recycling centers in coastal regions that lack a functional circular economy. By cooperating with the organization, the same amount of plastic is collected as is created in the production and packaging of disposable contact lenses by CooperVision.
That means that for every package of disposable contact lenses purchased, the same amount of plastic is removed from the environment, likewise making a contribution to the proper disposal of plastic waste.
